Software Scientific: the competitive edge of intelligence.

Technologies

Most of our technology is available both as C, C++, Delphi and Perl callable tookits for integrators, as CGI tools for the web, and as end-user applications for the Windows family of operating systems. We are working towards support on the Linux platform - please enquire for more details. All our products share a common multi-lingual architecture. Please read the important IPR statement. Prices are shown at the end of this page.

Originality is nothing but judicious imitation.

Email to SMS

Toolkit Email to SMS is a toolkit which creates SMS-optimised summaries of emails on the fly. It uses special summarising techniques to fit text into the 160 character limit imposed by the SMS standard, without losing the meaning of the text. With a simple yet powerful API it can be rapidly integrated into value-added products. Contact us to arrange a demonstration.

InterAct

Toolkit InterAct enables you to carry out marketing campaigns, by automatically interacting with your customers across both the SMS and email channels. Contact us to arrange a demonstration.

AutoAnswer

There are various levels of AutoAnswer.
Toolkit At the simplest level, AutoAnswer understands and answers e-mails, using a natural language specification of the domain knowledge needed to write the answer. As well as being muli-lingual, it can handle multiple languages simultanously (by idendifying the language of the incoming e-mail).
Toolkit At deeper levels, AutoAnswer builds a deep representation of the subject matter from various sources, (such as natural language text, images, database records, or measurements from instrumentation) and upon which it can reason. It can be used for answering e-mails, describing scenes, or detecting fraud. Unlike many systems, it is happy with internal contradictions arrising, (for example, when reading contradictory witness statements), and can resolve apparent conflicts. Like all our technology, AutoAnswer is multi-lingual. Because of the deep representation, it can generate 'answers' in multiple languages.

Web Research

App The Concept EngineTM, is a new way of finding information on the web. Rather than using a traditional search engine (simple query, => 9000 useless documents, => refine) you provide a highly accurate natural language 'trigger', and receive back a detailed report, including summaries of the 50 most relevant documents.
Toolkit The Concept EngineTM is also available as a toolkit for integrators.

HTML Document Summariser

App Web LecternTM is perhaps the most powerful html document summariser available for Windows '95, '98, and NT.
Please note, the text summariser has been withdrawn, as all its functionality is subsumed and surpassed in Web Lectern.

Toolkit The HTML summariser is a tookit for C and Java programmers which creates summaries of HTML web pages on the fly, and is designed for integration into other systems. Whilst being driven by the meaning of the document, it also uses the structure. The HTML summariser can also summarise text documents, but not emails - for those you should use the Email Summariser.

Email Summariser

Toolkit The Email Summariser is a tookit which creates summaries of emails on the fly, and is designed for integration into other systems. Like the HTML summariser, it is driven by both the meaning of the document and the structure.

Pornography Filter

Toolkit The Pornography Filter is a tookit designed to flag up html or text which contains pornographic material. It is designed to be integrated into email and internet browser systems to allow special actions to be taken when pornographic material is either sent or retrieved.

Pascal Scripting Engine

App The Pascal Scripting Engine is an embedded operating system for microcontrollers. It allows the user to program these devices in a high level language, PicoPascal (a subset of Pascal), producing byte-code which is highly compact, cross-platform compatible, and abstracted away from the fiddly low level API of the microprocessor. An onboard inferencing engine allows PicoPascal devices to make inferences about their environment: suitably programmed, emergent behaviour may then arise.

Open Question

Toolkit Open Question is a system designed for computer based training, and any situation where the system needs to understand free format input. For example, rather than giving a number of fixed multiple-choice answers to the question "What drug is used to treat such-and-such?", Open Question can be used to understand free text input. It is able to understand a large sub-set of English or most other languages.

Maths Pad

App MathsPad is a cross between a word processor and a spreadsheet, allowing calculations to be dynamically embedded into a document. It uses the Symbol Evaluator and HTML generator toolkits to produce HTML reports containing hyperlinks between the variables and constants used.

Symbol Evaluator

Toolkit This toolkit will evaluate the value of an expression provided as a string. It is used by the MathsPad application described above.

HTML generator

Toolkit The HTML generator, as used by MathsPad, converts text into HTML ready for display in a browser, complete with hyperlinks between related variables and constants.

Speed-Read

Toolkit Speed-read is a new toolkit to make reading large web documents quicker. The user expresses a natural language interest, which is used to highlight relevant parts of the document. In addition a hyper-link is placed after each relevant area linking it to the next relevant section.

Relevance Ranking

Toolkit Our relevance ranking toolkit provides exceptionally accurate document relevance ranking based on discussion flow analysis, a technique which uses all the words in a document (including those such as "the" and "of"), and the order in which they occur.
App Inqusitor, a hard disk searching system, uses our relevance ranker to display documents in relevance order, based on a natural language query.

Text Retrieval

Toolkit The Bullets toolkit is a text & image retrieval system with a very small index size (typically 10% of the size of the documents). None the less it provides fast natural language relevance ranked document retrieval.
App Panoramic: Fast natural language disk and local web site text research application for Windows '95 and NT.

Fast Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP)

App Software Scientific has developed a very fast algorithmic solution to the Travelling Salesman Problem. The Fast TSP application takes seconds rather than hours to compute a solution that is only slightly non-optimal. Solutions can be applied in real time to network problems, such as automatic warehouse goods pickers, that need to find the shortest path between a set of predefined points.

Email Content Filter

App Software Scientific is considering the development of an Email Content Filter, designed to detect emails of a personal or unwanted (spam) nature using our natural language technologies. Such a filter could be used to block personal emails received on work email accounts. It could also be used either at home or work to block spam. If you would be interested in such a product, please contact us.

IPR Statement

Software Scientific has the right to market and exploit all the technology shown on this page. The main IPR in the technology resides variously in Software Scientific, individual Directors of Software Scientific, or Aerospace Scientific. Some aspects of the IPR, such as the compilers used to compile the programs and various support code, belong to third parties, but in all cases Software Scientific has valid licenses to use and sub-license such IPR as may be necessary.

Pricing

All prices are GBP excluding VAT, are based on the end-user order size, and exclude maintenance (charged at 15% pa if required) and support (available on a T & M basis).

For order sizes of 100 or greater, the unit price halves for every ten-fold increase in the order size. For example, the Web Lectern unit price for an order size of 1000 would be £20, ie 81/2/2.

APIs for Integrators

For integrators we charge a toolkit fee and a royalty per seat deployment.

A toolkit (SDK) license includes the libraries, documentation, one week support, and site development and demonstration run-time licenses. The first toolkit is charged at £7,500, the second at £5,000, the third at £3,000, the fourth and subsequent toolkits at £1,500.

The royalty price is the same as the application price, less a discount of 30%. Maintenance is charged at 15% pa, and support beyond that included in the SDK at T & M. Please contact us for server pricing.
